I am pleased to announce that two experienced Health Care Professionals have joined our support team:

Lisa Wallace BSc. and Mark Vist M.Sc.

Lisa has many years of clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist in Winnipeg and with MDS Nordion she provided application support for the TheraPlan Plus and Helax treatment planning systems.

Mark is experienced supporting and developing radiation oncology systems (Theraplan, Therascan water phantom, Theraplan Plus, R&V and the Equinox Cobalt 60 treatment unit.)

Both professionals will bring to Medron a first line sales and technical support for all products and our software platforms.

As the first in the world, Kuopio University Hospital adopted our biometric Deltabit Check-In queuing system in their radiotherapy department at the turn of the year.

Deltabit Check-In is the next generation of patient identification system that utilises fingerprint-biometric software to facilitate the self-service signing in to patient appointments.

The Deltabit Check-In system consists of the self-service check-in terminal, the call-up number display and the call-up and patient tracking software. Compatible with the Mosaic and Ari electronic patient management systems.

The call-up program can be used to call the patient to the appointment easily with a single click. If the patient has several appointments during the day, the call-up program shows the location of the patient at each time and the points of time when the patient has moved to another place. No more wondering and looking for people.

After the appointment, the patient's treatments for the day or the entire course of therapy can be marked as completed. The patient can also be transferred to wait for the next appointment, if there are several appointments during the day. All appointments are logged in to the system automatically.

FAQ's

Medron has received a number of questions about IDENTIFY and its features. We would like to share our responses to these questions.

1. Can you explain how the camera works? Is it similar to the Kinect camera?
2. It combines features of a Time of Flight camera like the Kinect camera and stereoscopic marker tracking cameras similar to the ones sold by NDI. You can check out their web site by going to http://www.ndigital.com
3. What is the accuracy of the Motion Monitoring?
4. Accuracy is 0.5 mm for the gating marker and 5 mm for the overall (head to toe). Users can define their own thresholds.
5. What is the frame-rate of the surface acquisition and the marker tracking?
6. 10 frames/sec for the surface acquisition and 30 frames/sec for the marker tracking.
7. Can you use the system for stereotactic Radiosurgery?
8. Identify is a complimentary device that you can use for aligning the patient to the linac, however a CBCT should be performed before treatment.

ELASTO-GEL The bolus of choice, better contouring, no air gaps

ELASTO - GEL has now over taken Superflab as the bolus of choice!

A superior tissue equivalent patient specific bolus that contours exactly to the external anatomical features of the patient's skin surface eliminating small air gaps.

It has been shown that smaller air gap results in shallower dmax for both 6 MV and 10 MV photon beams at all field sizes.

Special consideration should be taken to reduce air gaps between bolus and skin for field sizes smaller than 10 x 10 cm² or when surface contour varies significantly (head and neck) or at the edge of fields.

The Elasto - Gel is available in the following sizes and we recommend that for those patients where external contours might create an issue with air gaps you have Elasto - Gel available.
